Employee Recognition Award Recipients

Brandenburg, KY – August 5, 2024 – The Meade County School District is delighted to announce the winners of the Meade County Employee Recognition Program awards. The program, now in its second year, honors outstanding contributions from our dedicated staff members. This year, we proudly present the Meade County Teacher of the Year, the Classified Staff Member of the Year (also known as the Fred Award), and the Special Education Teacher of the Year.

Personnel Director Janette Schmidt expressed her excitement, stating, “This program reflects our commitment to inclusivity, with nominations open not only to our school personnel but also to our students, parents, and community members. By engaging all stakeholders, we ensure that those who truly go above and beyond in shaping the minds and hearts of our students are recognized.”

The awards were presented by Ethan Kaiser, a senior at Meade County High School and a member of the Employee Recognition Committee, during a special ceremony. The winners are:

  • Teacher of the Year: Rachel Sermonis, David T. Wilson Elementary

  • Fred Award: Tammy McIntosh, Meade County High School

  • Special Education Teacher of the Year: Jessica Youart, Meade County High School

Dr. Mark Martin, Superintendent of Schools, praised the recipients, saying, “The dedication and passion demonstrated by Rachel Sermonis, Tammy McIntosh, and Jessica Youart embody the spirit of Meade County Schools. Their commitment to excellence in education and their unwavering support for our students are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them represent Meade County at the state level.”
