MCHS Gym Court

Meade County Schools is proud to announce that the basketball court at Meade County High School (MCHS) has been officially named “Bobby Pollock Court” in honor of Coach Bobby Pollock. The dedication took place during the district's Opening Day Ceremonies on August 5th, celebrating a beloved coach who has made a lasting impact on Greenwave athletics.

The newly named court is a centerpiece of a broad renovation project completed this summer at the MCHS gym. The upgrades included the installation of new lighting fixtures designed to enhance the athletic environment for both athletes and spectators, fresh paint to brighten the space, and a carefully refined playing surface. The court now features a striking two-tone design that proudly displays the signature colors and outline of Meade County, with the Meade County Wave serving as the central focus at center court. The lettering of “Bobby Pollock Court” has been added to the new design, symbolizing the ongoing legacy of a coach who continues to inspire.

Coach Bobby Pollock’s journey with the Greenwave began in 1968. Over the course of nearly three decades, from 1968 to 1995, he coached multiple sports, including boys' basketball, cross country, baseball, girls' basketball, and girls' golf. His coaching achievements include winning two Region Cross Country Championships in 1970 and 1971, three Region Girls Basketball Championships in 1985, 1986, and 1994, a District Baseball Championship in 1987, and four District Basketball Championships in 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988. Although Coach Pollock retired from Meade County Schools in 1995, his commitment to the youth of Meade County has remained strong, as he continues to be a positive influence in the community.

Athletic Director Todd Clanton expressed his admiration for Coach Pollock, stating, “Coach Pollock laid the foundation for the success of MCHS athletics. His dedication, leadership, and passion for sports have left an enduring mark on our programs, positioning us for success both on and off the court.”

Superintendent Mark Martin also shared his thoughts on Coach Pollock’s ongoing legacy, saying, “The naming of Bobby Pollock Court is not just a tribute to a remarkable coach but a reminder for generations of MCHS athletes of what it means to lead with heart, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Coach Pollock’s legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come.”

Meade County Schools is honored to celebrate Coach Bobby Pollock’s extraordinary contributions and to ensure that his influence continues to be felt by the athletes who will play on Bobby Pollock Court for years to come.
