Meade County Schools proudly celebrated Veterans Day today with a special ceremony hosted at Stuart Pepper Middle School, where a significant milestone for the district was also announced. Each school in Meade County has earned the prestigious Purple Star Award, making Meade County Schools one of the first districts in Kentucky to achieve this honor district-wide.
The Purple Star Award, a state-sponsored recognition, is awarded to schools that demonstrate outstanding support for military-connected students and their families. This designation reflects the district’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the resilience of military-connected youth by addressing their social, emotional, and academic needs.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our schools and staff to ensuring that military families feel supported and valued,” said Superintendent Dr. Mark Martin. “Meade County has a proud tradition of serving those who serve our country, and we are honored to be among the first districts in Kentucky to achieve this recognition across all schools.”
The announcement was made during Stuart Pepper Middle School’s annual Veterans Day celebration, an event that pays tribute to the service and sacrifices of veterans while emphasizing the district’s strong ties to the military community.
Meade County Schools remains committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for military-connected families. The Purple Star designation is just one way the district continues to honor its promise to serve students and families connected to our armed forces.
To our veterans, we express our deepest gratitude, and to our military families, we are proud to support your children in achieving success both in and out of the classroom.
