Dana Pickering Award

Meade County Schools is proud to announce that Mrs. Dana Pickering, Assistant Principal at Meade County High School, has been named the Kentucky Assistant Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Mrs. Pickering has served as Assistant Principal at Meade County High School since 2019. Throughout her career, she has been known for her dedication to students, commitment to building a positive school culture, and belief in the power of relationships to transform a school community. Her leadership continues to make a genuine difference in the lives of students, staff, and families across Meade County.

“Mrs. Pickering leads with heart, vision, and an unwavering commitment to our students and staff,” said Dr. Mark Martin, Superintendent of Meade County Schools. “She represents everything we hope for in school leadership — someone who builds trust, inspires growth, and puts students first daily. The Kentucky Assistant Principal of the Year award recognizes outstanding school leaders who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students and have made exemplary contributions to the profession.
